Contraindications to Sports Massage?

Sports & Remdial Massage Therapy is generally considered to be a safe and effective treatment. However, due to the significant effect it has on the body's systems, people with certain conditions/ illnesses may have an adverse reaction to treatment.

In the interest of health and safety, we will not treat you if you have:

v a Fever       v a Contagious or Infectious Disease   

We will also refuse to treat you if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of treatment.

You should seek advice from a medical practitioner before having a Sports & Remdial Massage treatment if you have any of the following conditions:

vDiabetes

vMedical Oedema

vOsteoporosis

vNervous/ Psychotic Conditions

vArthritis

vEpilepsy

vAsthma

vAcute Rheumatism

vAny condition already being treated by your G.P

vCardiovascular Conditions (including hypertension and hypotension)

If you suffer from any of the following localised conditions, we can administer a Sports & Remdial Massage Treatment, but will avoid the affected area:

vSome Skin Diseases

vUndiagnosed Lumps or Bumps

vVaricose Veins

vCuts

vBruises

vAbrasions

vInflammation

vSunburn

You will also need to seek medical permission if you:

v are pregnant v have had a recent operation

v Cancer (Although sometimes in cases, massage therapy can be administered, but only with permission from your doctor)

You will be asked about your medical history during your initial consultation.
